History
Riviera Country Club, designed by George Thomas Jr. and William Bell and opened in 1926 in the Santa Monica Mountains above Los Angeles, earned the nickname the Riviera of America for its glamour and Mediterranean climate. Ben Hogan won the Los Angeles Open there three consecutive years in the 1940s, inspiring another nickname: Hogan's Alley. The course's combination of eucalyptus-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and innovative design features — including a bunker inside the 6th green — has made it one of the most revered PGA Tour venues. The Genesis Invitational is played here annually.
