TPC Jasna Polana
History
TPC Jasna Polana is built on the former 226-acre estate of J. Seward Johnson I and his third wife Barbara Piasecka Johnson, a Polish-born philanthropist. The name means 'bright glade' in Polish. Following Johnson's death, Piasecka Johnson converted the Jasna Polana estate — including its landmark neoclassical mansion designed by Wallace K. Harrison — into an exclusive private country club and hired nine-time major champion Gary Player to design the championship golf course, which opened in 1998. Player crafted a par-72, 7,098-yard layout across the rolling countryside of Princeton Township, New Jersey, incorporating significant elevation changes, natural water features, and strategic bunkering throughout the 230-acre property. The Georgian-style mansion serves as the clubhouse and restaurant, giving TPC Jasna Polana a uniquely grand country estate character among TPC clubs. The course was the venue for a Shell's Wonderful World of Golf televised match between Tom Watson and Hale Irwin in 1999.
