History

Maidstone Club, founded in 1891 and refined by Willie Park Jr. in the 1920s, occupies one of the most dramatic sites in American golf — a narrow strip between the Atlantic Ocean and Hook Pond in East Hampton. The course weaves between oceanside dunes and freshwater ponds, with several holes running directly along the beach. Its exposed wind-ravaged terrain and lack of trees create a genuine links experience on American soil. Maidstone's small membership and summer-only nature have kept it exclusive and largely outside the championship circuit, enhancing its mystique.
