History
Prairie Dunes Country Club, routed by Perry Maxwell through the undulating sand dunes of south-central Kansas, is a miraculous inland links that seems to belong on the British coast. Maxwell found the site in the 1930s and reportedly said there were 118 holes but he had to eliminate 100. His son Press Maxwell completed the back nine in 1957. The result is a course that captures the spirit of great links golf, with firm fast fairways, native rough of little bluestem grass, and greens that demand imagination. It hosted the 2002 and 2024 U.S. Women's Open and the 1956 Curtis Cup.
