History

Old Town Club in Winston-Salem, originally designed by Perry Maxwell in 1939, was sensitively restored by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2013 to recover Maxwell's original strategic vision from decades of modifications. The restoration recaptured Maxwell's flowing terrain-hugging fairways and his famously undulating Maxwell Roll greens. The result was an immediate leap in rankings — Old Town has climbed from relative anonymity to the top 40 in major polls, recognized as one of the finest Maxwell originals in America and one of the great restoration projects of recent decades.
