History
The Country Club in Brookline is one of America's five founding golf clubs and possesses the most storied championship history in American golf. Founded in 1882 as a social club and converted to golf in 1893, it hosted the famous 1913 U.S. Open where Francis Ouimet's improbable victory over Harry Vardon and Ted Ray ignited golf's popularity in America. The 1999 Ryder Cup's stunning American comeback on the 17th green gave it another legendary moment. Rees Jones renovated the course before the 1988 U.S. Open, where Curtis Strange won back-to-back titles.
