History

Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, opened in 1986 as Jack Nicklaus's personal design in Kentucky, has established itself as one of the premier championship venues in the American South. Its rolling woodland terrain, water hazards, and the iconic finishing stretch along Fishpool Creek create a photogenic and demanding test. Valhalla has hosted three PGA Championships — Nick Price's 1994 victory, Tiger Woods' 2000 win, and Rory McIlroy's dominant 2014 triumph — plus the 1996 and 2008 Ryder Cups. McIlroy's winning putt on the 18th in 2014 is one of the great images of major championship golf.
