Congaree Golf Club

History

Congaree Golf Club, designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2018 in the South Carolina lowcountry, made an immediate and dramatic entrance into elite rankings — debuting in Golf Digest's Top 50 within two years of opening. The course occupies a breathtaking site in a live oak forest draped with Spanish moss near the Coosawhatchie River, with fairways cut through ancient trees creating dramatic enclosed corridors. Founded by billionaire Ben Kohler, Congaree also launched the Palmetto Championship, hosting PGA Tour events while maintaining its ultra-private membership.

9th hole, par 4, 469 yards — a sweeping dogleg through cathedral live oaks to a green flanked by the Coosawhatchie swampland
