History
Pacific Dunes, designed by Tom Doak and opened in 2001 as the second course at Bandon Dunes Resort on the Oregon coast, is considered by many to be the finest new course built in the 21st century. Doak used the spectacular clifftop site above the Pacific Ocean with breathtaking imagination — seven holes run along the oceanside bluffs while the remainder weave through towering sand dunes. The course plays as a pure links, with firm turf, capricious winds, and a premium on creativity. It debuted on Golf Digest's Top 100 at No. 17 in 2001 and has remained firmly in the top 20 ever since.
Signature Hole
11th hole, par 3, 137 yards — a short wind-dependent par-3 on the Pacific Ocean cliff edge with a green falling away on three sides
